KIM BOWMAN is a father, spouse, the Mayor Pro Tem of La Cañada Flintridge, a nonprofit attorney, and an advocate for older adults who is working to improve the community to make sure it remains inclusive for people at every stage of life.
public service
Kim has a demonstrated commitment to public service. He is special counsel for a Los Angeles County nonprofit legal organization where he provides free legal assistance to those harmed by natural disasters and leads the estates and probate program for low-income individuals and families. Prior to his role as special counsel, Kim served as FUSE Executive Advisor to LA County’s Chief Deputy of Juvenile Services and was responsible for a dozen distinct projects to craft new policy, develop new public services, and improve existing juvenile justice programs.
Kim is a major in the United States Air Force Reserve and a member of The Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He is also the past president of the LA County Commission for Older Adults, a former La Cañada Flintridge Parks and Recreation commissioner, co-organizer of the La Cañada Flintridge Welcome Association, and has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations.

Kim holds a law degree from the University of the Pacific, a master’s degree in gerontology (aging) from the University of Southern California, a master’s degree in business administration from Westminster University, and bachelor’s degrees in gender studies and political science from the University of Utah. He is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals, the state courts and central district federal court of California, and all state and federal courts in Utah.

Kim is married to Cynthia Nguyen, M.D., a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at a nonprofit children’s hospital in Pasadena. Kim and Cynthia, their children Alice and Colette, and their three cats make their home together in La Cañada Flintridge, California.
